A new e-learning module on Climate Change Awareness and Knowledge was developed for the Kiribati Institute of Technology (KIT) by the Kiribati Facility with technical assistance from Simon Wilson, a Climate Change Specialist, from the Australia Pacific Climate Partnership. The module focuses on introducing students to climate change as a global issue with impacts for national economies and local communities and livelihoods.

The module includes resources, guidance materials, frameworks and videos intended to be easily accessed and understood by KIT teachers responsible for developing and delivering the climate change e-learning resource . The resources provide an opportunity for students to explore various aspects of the climate change challenge, providing a global and a local perspective.

The Kiribati Facility also development their Environmental Awareness and Action Plan that establishes implementation arrangements and operationalises KIT’s commitment to reduce its impact on the environment; provide environmental and climate resilience leadership; and educate and develop the skills of its next generation of leaders. Support for the plan was also provided by Simon from the Climate Partnership.  The Plan will operationalise the KIT Environmental and Climate Change Policy, which formally communicates KIT’s commitment to pursue its green institute/green campus aspirations and aims to become a role model for environmental sustainability, an innovative training provider and an active and inspiring partner for sustainable development in Kiribati

The Kiribati Facility is an Australian Government funded initiative managed by Scope Global to support the delivery of high quality technical and vocational education and training (TVET), internationally recognised certificate courses and training programs at the three Kiribati Institute of Technology campuses (https://scopeglobal.com/programs/kiribati-facility/).
