Dr Melchior Mataki, Permanent Secretary of the Solomon Islands Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology (MECDM) shares his experience of risk-informed development under the Pacific Risk Resilience Programme (PRRP), a predecessor of the newly designed Governance for Resilient Development in the Pacific (GRDP).

The UNDP Governance for Resilient Development in the Pacific (GRDP) project, endorsed by government partners at its Regional Board Meeting on 19 November 2019, is to work across three outcome areas to support countries and the region in managing risks from climate change and disasters: 1) government planning and financing systems enable gender sensitive and inclusive risk-informed development; 2) country oversight and accountability systems require gender sensitive and inclusive risk-informed development; and 3) regional organisations, policies and practices are actively supporting gender sensitive and inclusive risk-informed development.

Supported by DFAT, the GRDP is a climate governance component of the Australia Pacific Climate Partnership.
