Ofa atu and happy new year to you all! I’m pleased to announce that the short documentary about the new Tonga Sea Level Monitoring Station aired on SPC's regional TV channel, The PacificWay over the holidays, and the team have made the video available on the SPC YouTube channel for all to share.

You can view the video here: https://youtu.be/NDAVnFsbqe4

While there were some production delays, the doc tells telling a compelling story from the highest levels of global marine observation down to grassroots needs and applications of sea level information.

For those may not be familiar with the Pacific Sea Level and Geodetic Monitoring Project, it is Australia's longest continuing aid investment in the Pacific and the 13 stations across the region form backbone of the one of the world's most important ocean monitoring networks. The high-quality sea level, climate, and earth positioning data provide critical information for the Pacific, used in tide predictions, early warning systems, long term climate trend analysis, and even the mapping of maritime zones and boundaries.

Although this video has only just been released on Youtube, it was also showcased at the Pacific Pavilion at COP25. Please feel free to share the link widely, to help share this story about the importance of insitu marine observations, and long term sea level data, amongst your networks.
