The Australia Pacific Climate Partnership Support Unit has recently welcomed several new members to the team – deputy team leader and climate change adviser, operations manager, knowledge manager and climate change adviser. The Support Unit organised over 10 hours of virtual team orientations across the four working days (14-17 April) to share and learn about what, why and how we operate as a team. Other team members and two Expert Panel specialists who have been working with the team also joined in and contributed to the intellectual discussions.

The topics covered in the virtual team orientations included Program Overview and Roles/Responsibilities; Theory of Change and Performance Framework; Integration Agenda; Knowledge Brokering; Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI); Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR); Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) systems and tools; and Communications. The team also talked about business continuity and activities during the times of COVID-19.

With a newly minted, experienced and skilled team, the Support Unit 2.0 is really well-positioned to support DFAT and its implementing partners to continue the process of ensuring all Australian aid investments in the Pacific are climate and disaster informed, are building resilience and contributing to priority country climate change action.
